Abstract

The Labor-Intensive Program at Ngloram Airport in 2025 was implemented as an effort to maintain airside facilities, especially the runway strip, as well as a form of empowerment of the surrounding community. This activity was motivated by the condition of the runway strip which experienced vegetation growth in the form of wild grass, bushes, and small trees that required regular maintenance to support the safety and smooth operation of the airport. The activity was carried out through several stages, including identifying field conditions, determining priority areas, clearing and controlling vegetation, and monitoring and evaluating work results. The surrounding community was directly involved as labor in the implementation of maintenance activities. The results of the activity showed that the implementation of the Labor-Intensive Program helped improve the cleanliness and orderliness of the runway strip area and provided socio-economic benefits in the form of temporary employment opportunities and additional income for the community involved. This activity demonstrated that the maintenance of air transportation facilities can be integrated with community empowerment through the involvement of local labor in a planned and sustainable manner.
