City lighting plays a crucial role in creating a safe, aesthetic, and efficient urban environment. South Jakarta, a city with high activity levels, especially at night, faces challenges in managing its suboptimal public lighting system. This study aims to design an adaptive and efficient city lighting system based on the functional and aesthetic needs of the area. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach through field observations, interviews with the Transportation Agency and local residents, and literature studies on urban lighting principles. The findings indicate that several points on main roads, city parks, and public spaces experience uneven lighting and are energy-intensive. Recommended solutions include the use of energy-efficient LED lamps, placement of lighting points based on residents' activity patterns, and integration of lighting with urban landscape design. This study emphasizes the importance of data-driven and participatory lighting planning to create a bright, safe, and aesthetic city at night, while supporting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
