The design of home gardens in the Permanent Housing (Huntap) area of Talise aims to enhance the quality of the micro-environment. Additionally, these gardens can improve the comfort of residents affected by the 2018 earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction in Palu City. Huntap Talise is one of the permanent housing areas built by the Palu City Government for disaster-affected residents, intended to provide safe, livable, and permanent homes as replacements for temporary shelters. However, Huntap Talise faces challenges such as limited landscape elements and suboptimal use of outdoor spaces in housing units.
This study aims to design home gardens that are functional, aesthetic, and suited to the local ecological and social conditions. The methods used include field observation, interviews with residents, and user-needs-based design. The outcome is a home garden design that integrates local vegetation, simple circulation paths, and seating areas, all intended to improve thermal comfort and the quality of outdoor spaces. The design also considers space efficiency, building orientation, and ease of maintenance. This design is expected to serve as a foundation for developing sustainable residential landscapes and supporting the social-psychological recovery of post-disaster communities.
