Safety Socialization at Level Crossings in North Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency

Abstract

Railway level crossings are one of the locations with a high risk of accidents, especially at crossings that are not equipped with adequate barriers and safety facilities. This condition is also found at several level crossings in North Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, which has quite high road user mobility. This community service activity aims to increase public understanding and awareness of the importance of safety when crossing level crossings and encourage disciplined behavior in complying with safety regulations. The implementation method of the activity includes field surveys and observations, problem identification, material preparation, and outreach and education to the surrounding community and road users. The material presented includes the potential dangers of level crossings, the importance of complying with safety signs and regulations, and the implementation of safe behavior before crossing. The results of the activity showed that the outreach received a positive response from the community and provided an understanding of the importance of vigilance and compliance with safety regulations. This activity is expected to increase public awareness and become one of the efforts to reduce the risk of accidents at level crossings.
